Who Does the Work
We're based at 850 Kaliste Saloom Rd in Lafayette, and that's where the trucks run out of each morning. We don't have a long company history to tell you - no founding year, no staff roster, no award case to point at. What we can tell you is what we work on and where.
Most of the houses we get called to in this service area went up somewhere between 1966 and 2011, with a lot of that stock dating to the early 1980s. That matters for a quote because a door and opener from 1985 doesn't take the same parts as one from 2005. Torsion spring sizes changed, track widths changed, opener mounting changed. When you call in, the year your house was built (or when the door was last replaced) tells us more than almost anything else you could say.
We also cover the towns around Lafayette - Scott, Broussard, Carencro, Youngsville, Maurice, Breaux Bridge, Duson, Cade, Cankton, St. Martinville, Sunset, Cecilia, Rayne, Arnaudville, Grand Coteau, Henderson, Abbeville, Erath, Church Point, Delcambre, New Iberia, and out toward Judice and Acadiana. If you're in one of those spots, say so when you call - it helps us figure out which truck is closest.
What We Are Called Out For
A broken torsion spring on a double door is the most common call we get, followed by openers that run but won't lift, and cables that have frayed through on older tracks. In a housing stock that runs from the mid-1960s through 2011, we see a wide spread of hardware - steel rollers on 30-year-old tracks next to synthetic rollers on openers installed five years ago.
Our climate here doesn't put the same stress on doors that a hard-freeze region does - we're a mild band with occasional freeze nights, not months of hard cold - so we don't see the ice-jam calls some other climates get. What we do see more of is humidity working on bottom seals, weather stripping, and any steel panel where the paint has worn through.
What we can't price over the phone is anything structural - a bent track from a car backing into it, a header that's shifted, or a door that's been painted over several times and hides rust underneath. Those need a look in person. If you tell us the door's rough age and what it's doing (won't open, makes noise, off track), we can usually tell you on the call whether it's a spring, a cable, or an opener board, and give you a straight answer about whether it's worth fixing.
The Short Version
A quote is only as accurate as what we know going in. The age of your door and opener, the symptom (stuck, noisy, off-track, won't close), and whether anything's visibly bent or rusted - those three things get you a close estimate before we show up. What we can't quote sight-unseen is labor on a job where the track is bent out of true or the header framing has moved, because we won't know what we're dealing with until someone's standing in front of it.
We serve Lafayette and the towns around it - Scott, Broussard, Youngsville, Carencro, and the rest of the list above. Call 1-337-213-9066 or stop by 850 Kaliste Saloom Rd, and tell us what the door's doing. If it's a straightforward spring or cable job on a door from the usual local stock - 1980s-90s build - we can usually give you a number on the phone. If it's something we need to see, we'll say so instead of guessing.
Frequently asked questions
Can you give me a price over the phone?
For a common repair - a broken spring, a frayed cable, an opener that hums but doesn't lift - yes, usually, once we know the door's age and symptom. For anything structural, like a bent track or shifted header, we need to see it in person before we quote labor.
Do you work outside Lafayette proper?
Yes. We cover the surrounding towns as well, including Scott, Broussard, Carencro, Youngsville, Maurice, Breaux Bridge, and several others out to about 18-19 miles. Mention your town when you call so we can route the right truck.
My door is original to a 1980s house. Can you still get parts?
Often, yes, since a lot of local stock dates to the early 1980s and parts for that era are still common. Some original hardware is harder to source and may mean a partial upgrade instead of a straight swap - we'll tell you which applies before we start.
What information should I have ready before I call for a quote?
The rough age of the door and opener, what it's doing wrong (won't open, noisy, off track, won't close all the way), and whether anything looks bent, rusted, or painted over. That's usually enough for a phone estimate on a standard repair.
